The Management of the Academic Staff union of universities, ASUU has revoked  its decision to address  media panels next week on possible suspension of strike.

According to the Union President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke disclosed to ait.live exclusively via telephone, that they are also disappointed over the development.

He said until the Federal Government gives green light on accepting the University Transperancy and Accountability Solution, UTAS over the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System IPPIS, it will remain on strike for as long as possible.

The Union President particularly pointed accusing fingers at the National Information Technology Development agency, NITDA a parastatal under the ministry of communications and digital economy, for deliberately frustrating the process.

Emmanuel Osodeke argued that contrary to public perception, “no work no pay” is already on for the lecturers, as salaries have not been paid since February, 2022. The Professor added “this will only help to aggrievate or worsen the unfortunate situation.

The University of Abuja Chairman of ASUU, Kassim Umar , who was also interviewed along side with the Union President, insists that no state government can suspend the activities of Labour, since it remains in the exclusive legislative list.

According to his decision, he actually reacting to the news that Edo state government has suspended activities of all unions in the state’s tertiary insititions.
